A New Baby Means WORK!

There is nothing like holding a squishy, squirmy little bundle for the first time! When I think back to the births of my own babies, all four of them, I have to admit I REALLY loved the helpless, newborn stage. Many people I have spoken to have said they would just as soon wait until they were presented with a curious little three year old. Yes, those demanding little creatures can be quite intimidating; I loved it! Have you ever noticed how much work is involved? If it is to be done properly, raising children, nurturing and teaching them is an intense undertaking!
Hopefully by the time they can be trusted to walk to the next block to play with friends you can be confident they will get there and return home safely at the specified time.
During these very young years we often make the mistake as moms, of trying to be ‘super mom’ and do it all ourselves.
While that seems to be a noble endeavour the truth is that sometimes, to gain the most rewarding outcome, we need to relinquish a little control and allow others to lend a hand. It does not diminish our importance in baby’s life. Rather, it adds a dimension to the small child’s life that can broaden and help to develop facets of their personality. Also, think of the blessing and fulfilment received by those who contribute to your little one’s life.
When I think of the joy I have experienced in taking care of babies (in twenty two years of home daycare) it brings to mind how God, my Heavenly Father must feel when ‘babies’ join His family!
In the same way, when we guide others into the family of God they cannot be left on their own. They need our love, our acceptance right where they are and a good dose of forgiveness when they stumble and fall. They need our constant prayer, support and verbal encouragement. At times we may need to take it a step further and bring in an outside source of help, therapy that is specialized. A counsellor trained to deal with trauma and ugly baggage from a past life can be an asset. They can help to propel the new ‘child’ to a life of fulfilment and destiny achieved for the glory of God!
So I just want to encourage you, keep having those babies and bring them with you on the way to the party!
